whO IS ELIGIBLE TO REGISTER?

Residents of East Greenwich, RI and students who attend Our Lady of Mercy school, in grades Kindergarten through 9th Grade.  EGFFL reserves the right to deny any registration based on non-residency in East Greenwich, RI.

when does registration open?

Player registration for each fall season opens in late-April or early-May.

what is the Registration FEE?

The registration fee for the K/1st Grade division is $130 per player and $175 per player for all other age divisions.

DO YOU PROVIDE NO-FEE SCHOLARSHIPS?

To assist families in need, EGFFL sets aside a limited number of no-fee scholarships for each season.  If you would like to request a no-fee scholarship for the upcoming season, please email us at EastGreenwichFlagFootball@gmail.com.  Your request will be reviewed by the EGFFL Board of Directors and you will be contacted once the review process is completed.

what is your refund policy?

A full refund, minus a $10 administrative fee, will be provided up-to August 1, 2024 for individual refund requests.  No refunds will be provided after August 1, 2024.  

how are the teams selected?

The EGFFL Board of Directors, Division Directors and Coaches select the teams.  Every effort is made to ensure parity and competitiveness across the divisions. 

can i request a team assignment?

Players will be placed on teams to ensure parity and competitiveness across the divisions.  Our league does NOT allow friend requests or carpool requests to be rostered on the same team.  Siblings in the same age division will be placed on the same team unless the league is notified otherwise.    

when will i be notified of my team assignment?

Teams will be announced via email and rosters will be posted to the EGFFL site the week our season starts.

does my player need equipment?

EGFFL provides each player with a reversible NFL jersey and flag belt.  Cleats (no metal spikes) and mouth guards are recommended, but not required.  Please CLICK HERE for jersey sizing information.  

WHAT SIZE FOOTBALLS ARE USED?

In our 2nd/3rd and 4th/5th Grade divisions, the footballs are comparable to the Wilson Pop Warner TDJ model, and in our 6th/7th and 8th/9th Grade divisions, the footballs are comparable to the Wilson Pop Warner TDY model.

WHAT IS THE EGFFL COMBINE?

The EGFFL Combine is our yearly gathering for all new and returning players to have some fun participating in football drills similar to those at the NFL Combine (IE. 40-yard dash, passing, receiving, etc.).  On field drills are conducted for the 2nd/3rd, 4th/5th and 6th/7th Grade divisions only.  Players in our K/1st and 8th/9th Grade divisions are invited to join us at the Combine to pick up their Combine t-shirt.   It is not mandatory to participate in the Combine to play during the season.

When does the season start?

EGFFL is a fall sport that starts in early-September and runs through early-November.

PLAYOFF ELIGIBILITY

A player must play in at least three (3) regular season games to be eligible to play in the playoffs.  This will be on the honor system with the player and coach – we do not track this at the league-level. 

when are the games played?

The 6th/7th and 8th/9th divisions play on Thursday nights, and the K/1st, 2nd/3rd, 4th/5th and Challenger divisions play on Friday nights.  Times posted in the schedule are game times - practices are 45-minutes before posted game times.

WHere are the games played?

Games are played at Academy Field (EG) for our K/1st Grade division and Eldredge Field (EG) and Wide World of Indoor Sports (NK) for all other age divisions.  Please CLICK HERE for additional field information. 

is there practice?

EGFFL is intended to be a one-day per week commitment.  The schedule consists of a 45-60 minute practice and a 40-minute game immediately following practice.  Times posted in the schedule are game times - practices are 45-minutes before posted game times.

what is your inclement weather policy?

Decisions on game cancellations due to inclement weather will be made at least 60 minutes prior to your scheduled game times, and will be communicated by the league.

can i coach?

Yes!  EGFFL is always looking for parent/guardian volunteers to coach.  Players' parents/guardians will be afforded the first opportunity to coach in our league.  Minor children - include siblings - are not permitted to coach in our league.   Please contact the league for more information.  EGFFL reserves the right to decline any request to coach.
